Dear Friends and Loved Ones,

We hope you are all doing well. We, too, still praise the Lord, despite the health problems our families have recently faced. We thank you very much for your prayers and support.

As some of you may know, the father of many children, biological and non-biological, Papa Damas, as many call him, has been battling diabetes for nearly 30 years. Last summer, he had a Cerebrovascular accident (CVA), commonly known as stroke, that occurs when the blood flow to a part of the brain is stopped either by a blockage or by the rupture of a blood vessel. According to the World Health Organization, of those who suffer a stroke each year, one-third die, another third remain permanently disabled, and only one-third recover. We are grateful to God that our father is one of the few who survived a stroke. He can now speak without any difficulty, take a few steps and make arm movements.

However, unfortunately, his diabetic condition, and probably the stroke that Papa Damas suffered, damaged his kidneys and caused them to fail. After being on dialysis for weeks, his doctor recommended that the best solution should be to find him a kidney donor. You can imagine how difficult this decision is for Dad, who has always believed more in the act of giving than in the act of receiving. It is time to prove to him that he, too, can receive from those who love him and who care deeply about his well-being. He will not give up. We will not give up. We are convinced that surviving the stroke was a sign that God wants Dad to continue living on this earth to continue his work in the lives of many children and young people who consider him the only father they have known. His role is critical to our families and communities, especially vulnerable children and their families. He must continue to live to see his children become responsible fathers and mothers and hear his grandchildren call him grandpa.

Papa Damas needs us. He needs a kidney transplant. That’s why we decided to write to our family and friends to ask for your support or advice on getting a kidney donor for Dad. If you would like to donate your kidney, recommend another donor, contribute financially, give us further advice, share a prayer, or learn more about Dad’s health, please send me a private message to Tel.: +250783622109, WhatsApp: +1(817)988-9947 or click on Finding a kidney transplant for Papa Damas.
